About the IPM Partnership Grant Program

Background: In 2003, the Northeastern IPM Center established the IPM Partnership Grants Program. The program first funded projects in FY 2004. Since its first funding cycle in 2004, the IPM Partnership Grants Program has funded 117 projects (with some PDs leading multiple projects).

Purpose: Projects funded through the IPM Partnership Grants must further the mission of the Northeastern IPM Center, must address or identify regional IPM priorities, and must benefit the region at large. The IPM Partnership Grants Program seeks applications for five project types: (1) IPM Working Groups, (2) IPM Issues, (3) Regional IPM Publications, (4) IPM Planning and Assessment Documents, and (5) IPM Minigrants. The primary project director must be from the northeastern region, but the eligibility for this program is broad. The Center has primary responsibility for administering this program.

Eligibility: Funding opportunities are open to individuals and groups both within and outside of the land-grants system, including private individuals and institutions, businesses, community organizations, and governmental and nongovernmental organizations. The primary project director must be from the northeastern region.

RFA development and proposal review: Center co-directors write the Request for Applications (RFA) with input from our AC, Center staff, NEREAP-IPM, IWGs, and others, altering the amount of funding in categories from year to year to reflect regional needs. We release the RFA to our mailing lists, both electronically and via hard copy, and we solicit the help of partners in publicizing the availability of these funds. The Center convenes the grants panel(s), makes funding decisions, and issues the awards.

Application Process and Sample Documents

Request for Applications (RFA)

Download the 2010 IPM Partnership RFA. The submission deadline is 5pm, Monday, December 14, 2009.

Application Submission

IPM Partnership grant applications are submitted electronically through the Center's online proposal submission system. The RFA and forms needed for your application are also available from that link.

Budget Information

A detailed budget justification is required as part of the application. A Sample Budget Justification is available to download. The sections included in the budget justification and level of detail will vary based on your proposed project.

Software for PDF File Conversion

Our proposal submission system accepts PDF (Portable Document Format) files; all documents you upload must be in this format. The full names of these files end in the .pdf extension.

You probably already have software on your computer that can open PDF files that are posted online, such as the RFA posted above, but you might not have software to convert files into this format. Please convert the actual document files rather than just scanning images of paper printouts. Please contact us in advance of the application deadline if you need help converting your grant application files to PDFs.

There are a number of programs available to help you convert your documents. A list is provided at the federal grants.gov website and some of those links for free software are repeated below.

Previously Funded Projects

Information on previously funded projects including project reports is available via the Northeastern IPM Center's grant database. In the search form choose "IPM Partnership" as the program type.

An archive of additional information on older projects is available.

Publication Guidelines apply to Center-funded communications projects.

How to Submit Reports

Annual progress and final reports on projects are submitted to the Center via the grants database system. Project directors will receive reporting instructions via email. You can also download the 2009 Partnership Reporting Instructions.
